The cast members of Matthew Perry's Friends have spoken out about his unexpected passing.
In a joint statement to PEOPLE on Monday, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer expressed their instant response to his passing and pledged to pay further tribute to him later, once they had had more time to grieve.
"The loss of Matthew has hurt us all so much. We were not just coworkers on the show. We are one big family," they said. "There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."
The group went on, "In time we will say more, as and when we are able." "For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."
The Friends actor passed away over the weekend at his Los Angeles home from what appeared to be a drowning. Social media was immediately swamped with condolences for the actor, whose life and work had impacted millions of people worldwide, as soon as word of his passing spread. Coworkers who had collaborated with Perry throughout the years wrote a large number of the posts.
